Find out where the couple obtained the marriage license. The county court clerk for the district court that issued the original Oklahoma marriage license also maintains a record of the license. While the husband and wife will know this information, third parties seeking to verify a marriage may need to ask the couple or someone familiar with the couple to find dates, locations and other details about the marriage.
Click on the county where the marriage took place on the National Association of Counties map of Oklahoma counties (see Resources). The site will direct you to an individual page for that Oklahoma county.
Click on the county website link on that individual county page. Look around the county website to find contact information for the county court clerk. You can call the clerk if you need directions or have other questions.
Visit the county clerk's office. Each county clerk maintains a record of the license and Oklahoma marriage certificate issued for each couple.
Tell the clerk you want to inspect marriage records. Give the name of the husband and wife and any other information, such as the year of the marriage. By Oklahoma law, the court clerk must make all marriage records available for public inspection during normal office hours. In addition, a clerk may not sell papers related to a marriage license.
Follow the clerk's instructions to obtain the marriage records. Counties have the choice of using optical discs, microfilm, microfiche, a physical book or imaging. You may have to perform your own search per the clerk's instructions to find marriage records.
