Eidetic Memory Games

Eidetic memory games challenge a person's ability to recall images. The old board game, Concentration, is a classic eidetic memory game. According to the website, Eidetic Memory, a person's recall is related to her ability to describe images after the images have been removed from view. (See References 1) The more complex or intricate an eidetic puzzle, the more refined your eidetic recall skills become. While a person with eidetic memory can recall images in detail, those with "normal" memories can practice eidetic skills with online variations of eidetic memory games.
  1. Photographic Memory Game

    • Sometimes referred to as photographic memory, eidetic memory engages when a person studies an image and attempts to recall. The website Strolling Guides provides a type of eidetic memory game. Play the Photographic Memory Game by studying an image that appears divided into 12 squares. When you click the "Start" button, the image vanishes. Images of each square appear in a box on the right, in random order. You must identify the position of the image by clicking on the correct position in the puzzle.

    Mouse Concentration

    • The online game Mouse Concentration provides an entertaining eidetic memory game. Use your computer's mouse to match mice on the puzzle grid. When you select matching pairs of mice, the images stay in view. Mismatched mice turn over for you, and you must remember them to match to other tiles. Finish the game when you match all of the mice. Play against the timer to improve your eidetic recall rate.

    Visual Memory Online Game

    • Eidetic memory games differ by the ways the games challenge your memory. The website Ababa Soft offers a variation on the theme. Begin with a blank board divided into squares. Click on squares in pairs to find all the picture pairs. Eidetic memory games include timing. Try to beat your own times for a personal best.
