Buy a sheet or a pack of sheets of self-stick labels. If you buy a name brand, you'll be able to download printing templates to print on these labels. If you buy a store brand of labels or generic labels, buy labels that are the same size and dimensions as the name brand labels. Write down the name, dimensions and product number of the name brand labels that match your generic labels so you can use the same template.
Download the correct template for the labels you bought. Visit the web page of the name brand of your labels (or the comparable name brand if you bought generic labels) and enter "templates" into the search function. You should find a list of the templates that are available for download. Some come in a package with several templates, and some can be downloaded one by one. Choose whatever is most appropriate for your project.
Open Microsoft Word. When you open your new document, select "Templates" instead of "Open Blank Document." You should find a list of templates that came with Word as well as your new, freshly downloaded label templates. Open your label template.
Enter the information you want to print onto your labels in the fields available to you in your new template. The template should look just like one sheet of your self-stick labels, and you should be able to toggle from label to label with your tab key. You can choose to print just one label, or you can print a few or the entire sheet. If you just want to print one, you can save the rest for later; you don't have to print all the labels on one sheet at once.
Load your self-stick label sheet into your printer, faced down. Print your document. Your sheet should emerge from your printer with your label printed. Allow the ink to dry before you peel off the label and use it.
