Information on New Holland Square Balers

Balers are employed in the agricultural industry to cut and compress such material as hay or straw into tight bales. New Holland has been manufacturing agricultural equipment for more than a century and are one of the world's leading baler makers.
  1. Bale Sizes

    • New Holland's BC5000 series of square balers are designed to produce relatively small bales. The BC5050, BC5060 and BC5070 models produce bales that measure about 14 by 18 inches. The BC5080 model produces 16-by-18-inch bales.

    Pickup Width

    • The BC5000 series of balers by New Holland features models that offer different pickup widths. The BC5050 and BC5060 models feature a 65-inch pickup width. The BC5070 and BC5080 models offer a wider pickup width than the previous models--75 inches.

    Horsepower

    • Each model of baler in the New Holland BC5000 series needs to be pulled by a tractor. For maximum efficiency, New Holland recommends employing a tractor that meets minimum horsepower requirements. New Holland recommends that a tractor offers at least 35 horsepower to pull a BC5050 baler. A tractor with at least 62 horsepower should be used to pull a BC5060 baler, while a 75-horsepower tractor is best for the BC5070 and BC5080 balers.
