Subscribe to an English language podcast. The Center for Educational Development offers a free ongoing podcast, updated three times per week, called "English as a Second Language Podcast." Other free and useful podcasts include "Effortless English," "Better at English" and "American English Pronunciation" (maintained by the Seattle Learning Academy). You can find these and similar podcasts at sites like the iTunes Store, The Education Podcast Network, Podcast.com and Podcast Alley. Choose one that appeals to you and click the "Subscribe" button to begin receiving daily lessons.
Listen to one podcast each day. For best results, download all of the previous episodes and begin with the first lesson. Take notes, follow all instructions and perform all the exercises to get the most out of each lesson. Before proceeding to the next lesson, review your notes and practice the concepts you have already learned.
Explore other audio lessons. In addition to podcast subscriptions, you can find free audio English lessons at sites like Talk English, Daily Step and Learn English Now. Visit these sites, find a lesson plan that appeals to you and always begin with the first lesson. For sites containing lessons in MP3 format, just right-click the lesson title and select "Save As." Save the audio file to your hard drive and drag it to your favorite media player, such as iTunes, Windows Media Player or your chosen podcast client.
