Practice writing sentences with various kinds of adverbs. Start with adverbs of time (such as "tomorrow" or "yesterday") and write five sentences using these adverbs. Move onto adverbs of degree, manner and place. Check your answers with a fluent English speaker to ensure that you are using the adverbs correctly.
Read other material, such as newspapers, magazines and other English writing, and circle or highlight the adverbs. This will help you focus on adverbs more effectively.
Write a series of two-word adjective/noun phrases such as "tall man" or "big truck." Next, add adverbs to them to further-define them. So, "tall man" could turn into "very tall man," with "very" modifying "tall." This will improve your understanding of the fact that adverbs can modify adjectives too.
Practice these activities on a daily basis in order to set the principles of how to use adverbs in stone and increase the number of adverbs in your vocabulary.
