Key in the price using a decimal point to separate the dollars and cents. For example, a price of 52 dollars and 6 cents is keyed in as 52.06.
Press the multiplication key on the calculator. This key is marked with an X. The term "of" in mathematics is synonymous with multiplication, so "percentage of a price" is interpreted as the product of the percentage and the price.
Key in the percentage value, and immediately follow this by pressing the "%" key. The result produced by the calculator will be the equivalent of the percentage of the price that you have entered. Enter the percentage value after entering the price to avoid any errors in the calculation. For example, if calculating a 15% discount on the price of $10, your keystrokes would be 10 X 15%, and the calculator will produce a result of 1.5.
