Primary school (six years):

High school (three years):
- Students typically start high school at the age of 16.

- Students who complete high school are eligible to apply for university.
The Algerian pre-university educational system is highly centralized and standardized. The curriculum is set by the Ministry of Education and all students are required to take the same courses.
