How to Cover a Cold Sore for an Interview

A cold sore is an eruption on the face that resembles a bump, caused by herpes simplex virus. Cold sores are usually visible on or near the corners of the mouth. The last thing a person wants when making an impression during any type of interview is an annoying, visible, distracting cold sore.

Decide whether covering the cold sore would be of best interest for you. If your cold sore is big, noticeable or contains a lot of pus, for example, you must be careful to cover the cold sore accurately or more attention may be drawn to the sore. This is because a cold sore, also known as a fever blister, forms, then breaks open and release pus from the sore. It is not recommended that you cover the sore after the sore breaks open. Once you have noticed a yellow crust around the sore, which indicates it is in the process of healing and disappearing, you may cover the cold sore. Some common mistakes associated with covering a cold sore includes applying too much makeup and picking at the cold sore before trying to cover it.

Clean your face and pat it dry. Apply a small amount of cold sore cream to the cold sore, and let it dry.

Pour a small amount of makeup concealer onto the sponge and slowly dab it over the cold sore area. This may keep the blister from bursting. It would be ideal if you practice this step ahead of time so that you can see what it may look like on interview day.
