How to Learn CPR Free Online

The American Heart Association (AHA) reports that online cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training using a computer and/or videos is as or more effective than instructor-led classroom training. Fortunately, there are many free resources and ways to learn CPR online. You can read and print CPR guides with illustrations, view instructional videos and even download training to your iPhone or Android phone. Most websites also provide a quiz or test at the end of the training.

Instructions

    • 1

Review the different kinds of training options available to you by visiting online CPR training websites. Select the kind of training you will benefit from the most--for example, online video instructional lessons.

    • 2

Set aside about two hours when you will not be interrupted and can focus on the training. Take the online training by reading the resource materials and/or watching the instructional videos. Maintain good posture while sitting at the computer and take a short break every 20 minutes or so.

    • 3

Take the test or quiz after you've completed the training. If you don't pass, go back and review the training materials and take the test again. You might want to wait a few days and retake the same program until you pass the test or take an entirely new website's training program until you pass that test.
