Legal Nursing Courses

Legal nurse consultants are registered nurses certified to consult with attorneys regarding the medical aspects of a case, including medical record review and expert testimony. Legal nurses are hired by law firms, insurance companies, government agencies and hospitals and often work on personal injury, product liability and medical negligence cases. If you're interested in becoming certified as a legal nurse consultant, there are several courses available to meet your needs.
  1. American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants

    • The American Association of Legal Nurse Consultants (AALNC) is a nonprofit organization founded in 1989 to facilitate the growth of registered nurses consulting in legal matters. The eight modules are: introduction to legal nurse consulting, roles of the LNC in practice, legal fundamentals, expert witness roles of the LNC in practice, access and analysis practice skills for medical records, research and report writing practice skills for medical records, practice skills for case screenings and business principles and practices. Students receive a certificate after successful completion of all modules and tests. As of 2011 the cost of this package is $1,665 for members of the AALNC and $1,900 for nonmembers.
