How to Use Touch Voting Machines

Voting day in America is an event preceded by many political signs and commercials leading up to your trip to the polls. Touch voting machines are replacing the traditional voting methods to help eliminate questionable votes due to a mis-punched cards. Touch voting machines will be private, like the current voting booths, and require a voter identification card to activate the machine and to record your vote.

      Check in at the voter registration table. You will need to show your state identification card or driver's license to prove who you are. The worker at the registration table will give you a voter identification card and either escort you to or direct you to the voting machine you should use.

      Insert your voter identification card into the voting machine. You will need to press the "view ballot" button in order to load the ballot to your machine. This may take a moment depending on how slow the system is running.

      Touch the name of each candidate you want to vote for in each category. Once you touch the candidate's name, you will see a green check mark appear to the left of the name. If you make a mistake or want to change your selection, touch the name of the candidate you previously selected to de-select their name, then touch the candidate you wish to choose instead.

      Touch "review" to check over your choices. A screen will appear showing the summary of all candidates you chose. Review your selections, then press the "vote" button to start the voting process. Once the process is complete, press the "confirm" button to lock in your choices. Once complete, you will see a message on the screen that lets you know your vote was cast.
