Measure the size of the room containing your belongings in square feet.
Obtain a conversion factor from your moving company to determine the number of linear feet that your goods will take up for their particular space. For a trailer that is 8 feet wide by 9 feet tall, the conversion factor, approximately, is that each foot of linear space that you will take up in the trailer corresponds to 120 square feet of space.
Divide your square footage by your conversion factor (in this case, 120) to estimate the number of linear feet that you need for your goods. If, for instance, you have 840 square feet of space in your studio apartment, then dividing 840 by 120 gives 7 linear feet for the amount of space that your belongings would take up in an 8 foot by 9 foot trailer.
