Is bates college a baby ivy league school?
Bates College is often included in lists of "best liberal arts colleges" and sometimes categorized as a "hidden Ivy" or a "Public Ivy," but it's not considered a "baby Ivy." The term "baby Ivy" typically refers to schools that, while highly selective and prestigious, are newer institutions that haven't had the same lengthy history and established traditions as the Ivy League schools. Bates, while excellent, is old enough (founded in 1855) to not fit that description. The term "baby Ivy" is itself somewhat subjective and informal.
