Fun Bible-Based Games for College Students

Whether college students are meeting for Bible study in a campus setting or in church social groups designed for them, Bible-based games can be entertaining and insightful. Games that young adults can relate to, learn from and have fun playing will maximize the returns in both entertainment and knowledge of the Bible.
  1. Win, Lose or Draw

    • This is an old classic that can be brought back time and again. Place in a bowl a bunch of cards, each of which lists a different Bible story. Split your party into two to four groups and give them a time limit for each illustration. Each person takes turns either drawing a Bible story or, with the rest of the group, guessing which Bible story is being drawn. If the group has not guessed before the time is up, the other groups get a quick chance to guess for points.

    Bible Charades

    • Charades is a classic game everyone has played. In this version, groups members act out characters, verses or stories from the Bible. This allows the students to review their knowledge of the Bible and have fun while being dramatic.

    The Ten Commandments

    • This is a good icebreaker game. Write out the Ten Commandments on a poster board or chalkboard so that your party can see them. Have each person introduce himself and tell the group which commandment means the most to him and why. If you really want to get personal, you can ask each guest to talk about the commandments he breaks most often. Try to keep it light and funny so everyone is comfortable.

    Bible Verse Rewrite

    • Collect several popular Bible verses to which college students can relate. Write them out on note cards and put them in a hat. Break your party into groups of two or three students. Have each group choose several note cards and think about what they mean. Each team then completely rewrites the verse into a modern saying. Teams take turns putting their modern sayings into two-minute dramatic scenes, ending with their new saying. Other teams have to guess the verse. The team that guesses the most verses wins.

    Board Games

    • A number of Bible-based board games are ideal for college students. One is the Bible version of Outburst, a game that asks guests to recall what they've learned about certain aspects of the Bible. Other popular board games that college students will enjoy are Guesstures Bible Edition, Bible Trivia Board Game and Inklings Bible Game.
