How does melinda discover her school sanctuary?
In the book "Speak" by Laurie Halse Anderson, Melinda does not discover a school sanctuary. Throughout the story, Melinda struggles with trauma and isolation after being assaulted at a party the previous summer. She doesn't seek out or find any specific physical space as a sanctuary within her school. Instead, Melinda's healing journey involves expressing herself through art and gradually connecting with a few understanding individuals, such as her art teacher, Mr. Freeman, and later in the story, her classmate David Petrakis. These connections provide emotional, rather than physical, sanctuaries for Melinda.
