Assess your strengths, weaknesses and interests. You want to take classes that are your strengths or that interest you. Classes where you are strong will be easier for you, and those that interest you will keep you motivated to continue the class and see it through.
Register for online classes early. Sometimes it takes a few weeks for payment for your class to be processed or for you to receive the books or materials you need for the class. If you don't have these when the class starts, you'll be behind from the beginning. This is definitely something you want to avoid if you are taking the online classes to raise your GPA.
Determine if any special requirements exist for an online class. When enrolling for an online class, ask the college advisor if there are any special requirements or circumstances that exist for the online section. They may have on-campus meetings, proctored exams or special projects you must complete.
Consider taking easier classes. There are a number of classes that you can take that are easier than those that fulfill the requirements for your degree. Although it may set you back a semester, taking these easier classes can help raise your GPA and get you back in good standing with the institution and/or its financial aid office. Classes you might consider taking online include physical education and freshman intro classes.
Study and ask for help when needed. It is important that regardless of what online classes you take that you spend time studying and completing the work required for the class. If you need assistance, you can still contact your teacher as well as other students in the class via email or the classroom discussion board.
