How To Apply for Pell Grants for Teacher Certification

The Pell Grant began as the Basic Educational Opportunity Grant in 1972, according to CollegeScholarships.com. In general, the grant is only for a student who has not completed a bachelor’s degree and is enrolled at least half-time in an approved program. According to the Federal Student Aid Handbook, there is an exception for students who have a bachelor's degree but are seeking teacher certification. If you are seeking a teaching certification and need financial aid, you can apply if you attend a program that meets the guidelines.
