The bachelor's degree in applied science is designed to instill professional management skills. The general education components include courses in writing, computer skills, mathematics, laboratory science, fine arts, humanities and social sciences.
Students also are required to complete a certain number of elective courses, in addition to the core requisites in their program. General education electives can be chosen according to the student's field of concentration in the applied science program. Concentrations can range from environmental technology to clinical laboratory science.
In the student's junior year, courses required can include diversity in the workplace, safety and upper-level technical and general education electives. The electives give the student a range of options, depending on his field of concentration.
The student's senior year usually includes courses in management and an upper-level elective. Once enough credit hours have been accrued, the student can graduate with a bachelor's degree in applied sciences in the concentration of his choice.
