The Best Colleges for Library Science

Library science includes the practices and management systems used in the collection and organization of information in libraries. A master’s degree is required for most librarian positions. As of 2010, the American Library Association (ALA) accredited master's degree programs at 57 schools across the United States, giving students a lot to choose from. When choosing a program, the ALA suggests considering factors such the specialties offered, admission requirement, career services offered and program format. Of course, geographic location and cost might also weigh in. To help students narrow their search, in 2009, the U.S. News and World Report published a ranking of the top Library and Information Studies programs based on a survey of faculty.
