Located in Warwick, Rhode Island, the New England Institute of Technology offers students an associate's degree in building construction technology. This degree prepares students in all parts of the residential and commercial building trade. The program focuses on the computer-based aspects of cost estimation, design and manufacturing. After students complete the basics of the program, they choose one of two tracks to complete their degree: either building construction and cabinetmaking construction or building construction and design construction. Cabinet making construction focuses on the study of tools and machinery, building materials and cabinetmaking, while design construction focuses more on computer assisted drafting, print reading and computer-aided estimation. The curriculum also offers students credit for doing externships in their fields.
