Cambridge University has one of Europe's largest integrated and top-ranked engineering departments which is over 125 years old. 10 percent of all students attending the university study engineering. All students take examinations in mechanical engineering, electrical information, mathematics and engineering structures after the first year of study and select core subjects for their second year. The third and fourth years of study require students to specialize in an engineering subject which leads to the degrees of BA (with Honors) and MEng. The school received the highest score in the Teaching Quality Assessment undertaken by the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education. It offers problem practical applications of creating products that improve the quality of human life.
