The Best Culinary Schools in Singapore

The island of Singapore has been influenced by many cultures, both Eastern and Western. These influences, along with the country's love for cooking, make Singapore an ideal location for culinary schools. A few schools in particular offer students an excellent education in the culinary arts.
  1. Shermay's Cooking School

    • Shermay's Cooking School was founded by award-winning cookbook author Shermay Lee in 2003. Although she was trained at the world famous Le Cordon Bleu, Lee was intent on keeping her school's focus on traditional Singaporean cuisine. Shermay's has a full-time staff of chefs but also provides a rotating cast of guest chefs, most of whom have 10 or more years of professional experience. Many have cooked in Michelin-rated three star restaurants. The school is constantly adding new workshops and covers an array of dishes, from puff pastries to one-pot French meals. Shermay's offers one- or two-year memberships to the school.

    At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy

    • The At-Sunrice GlobalChef Academy was established in 2001 as an Asian culinary school, but quickly expanded to cover both Eastern and Western cuisines. The school offers full diplomas in the culinary arts. The mission of At-Sunrice is to get new chefs into the field as quickly as possible. This is evident in the school's "Study & Work" program, in which current students are placed in top hotels and restaurants as a part of their education. As recently as 2010, two students from At-Sunrice were presented with the "Apprentice of the Year" award in their respected fields (Pastry and Culinary).
