Determine how many cells in the battery must be drawn. Batteries differ in the number of cells they have. There are two kinds of cells in a battery: Primary and secondary. The primary cells are positive, while the secondary cells are negative.
Draw each cell as two parallel lines, leaving one line shorter than the other. The shorter line in the cell represents the negative side of the cell and represents the secondary cells in the battery. The longer line represents the positive side of the cell. Each cell in a battery is arranged so that a primary cell is followed by a secondary cell.
Determine the polarity of the battery and label the diagram by adding a negative sign to the short side and a positive sign to the long side. Electrons move from the negative to the positive, based on the principles of electron theory.
