Why do all schools need elevators?

Not all schools need elevators. Elevators are required in schools that have multiple stories and are accessible to students with disabilities. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that schools provide equal access to all students, including those with disabilities. This means that schools must make sure that students with disabilities can get to all of the same places as other students. Elevators are one way to make sure that students with disabilities can access all of the different parts of a school.
