The Best Medical Universities in Ukraine

More than a dozen universities offer medical education programs in Ukraine. Called "institutions of higher education," most universities in Ukraine are state-owned and state-run as a legacy of the Soviet educational system.

For the past three years, experts from the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) have compiled ratings of the top 200 Ukrainian universities. The ratings are based on three criteria: quality of teaching staff, quality of education and international recognition.

In the 2009 Rating, eight medical universities made the top 50. The Bohomolets National Medical University in Kyiv was the only medical university to make the top ten. The following list of Ukraine's top medical universities is based on UNESCO's rating, starting with the best.
