Many schools allow students to earn their Master's degrees while attending part time. It takes three to six years to earn a Master's degree while attending part-time.. Part-time students often also work full-time or part-time jobs.
Some schools offer one-year Master's programs. For example, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology offers specialized one-year business Master's degrees; Boston University offers a one-year creative writing Master of Fine Arts degree; and Indiana University offers a one-year journalism Master's program.
Master's programs qualify students for higher-level jobs. Students with Master's degrees can also usually earn a Ph.D more quickly.
