Participate in clubs and organizations; graduate schools look for extracurricular activities on your resume. Showing that you have dedicated the time and effort to being a member of an organization can help your chances of getting into graduate school, especially if that organization is related to your major.
Volunteer in your community. This not only enriches your experience in college, it looks excellent on a graduate school application. Tutoring local youths, coaching a little league team and helping clean up local roads are all good examples of volunteerism that can help you get into graduate school if your GPA is a 2.4.
Take the Graduate Record Exam and score well above average. A higher than average GRE score can offset the detriment of a 2.4 GPA on your graduate school application.
Get four letters of recommendation. Often, the requirement is three, but having an extra letter will help your chances if you have an undergraduate GPA of 2.4. Ask teachers who are familiar with your academic work and character to write your letters of recommendations.
