Earn a bachelor's degree in a field related to business or industry you want to pursue. Master's degrees in business include specialties in agribusiness, finance, real estate, manufacturing, management and economics.
Apply for graduate school to earn your MBA. You have to have an acceptable grade point average (GPA) and Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) scores for almost all MBA programs. Schools may have different standards for admissions. Some MBA programs take into account life experience for working executives along with your GPA and GMAT scores.
Complete the program requirements. Some master's degree programs require a thesis or a research study as a qualification for graduation. MBA programs specific to a field may require special projects. Someone who wants to work in real estate may have to do a case study that involves taking a hypothetical piece of property through planning, zoning, financing and sales, a requirement for the MBA program at Arizona State University's W.P. Carey's School of Business.
Apply for the degree once you have completed the MBA program's requirements. Once the university confers your degree, you can use the MBA term after your name by separating your last name and the term with a comma, followed by a space and then the letters, MBA.
