Format the letter professionally by writing the date in the upper left corner. Press enter twice and write the name of the person to whom you are writing, if you know it. Underneath the name, write the department of the person you are writing to, the university they are at and the address for the university. Give each of theses piece of information their own line. Press enter twice.
Write "Dear" and the name of the person you are writing to, followed by a comma. Press enter twice and begin your official letter.
Introduce yourself by giving your name and where you received your previous education and degrees. Also mention any special honors you have received. Try to keep this section to three to five sentences.
Discuss why you should be accepted into the program, in two or three paragraphs. List any skills you have that make you an ideal candidate. Be specific by telling a story about your skills. These stories should help prove that you are a good candidate for the program.
Write one or two paragraphs about what you intend to do with your education and degree. Point out the reason that going through that specific program would help you reach that goal. This might mean citing specific courses or professors involved in the program, and what you will learn from these courses and professors.
End the letter with the word "Sincerely." Press enter three times. Type your name. After printing the letter, sign your name between the word "Sincerely" and your typed name.
