How to Calculate PCAT Scores

The Pharmacy College Admissions Test (PCAT) is given to college students who want to attend a school of pharmacy. The test measures a student's basic knowledge of pharmaceuticals by assessing the performance level of your answers regarding physics, chemistry and biology. The test features 280 questions and has one writing portion; you have 4 1/2 hours to complete the test. Incorrect and unanswered questions do not count against your total score, which is anywhere from 100 to 300 points. Your results are sent by the testing center to the educational institutions you designate on your test application. Calculating your score requires knowing what the minimum requirement is for the pharmacy school you are applying for.

Register to take the PCAT. Tests are given around the country three times a year; in January, July and September. Applications and fees are due prior to taking the test; the earlier you register the better your chances of receiving your preferred testing time and date. Late registration is available. The fee is $199; add an additional $49 to the test fee if you register late. Late registration is within two weeks of the date of the test.

Calculate your test score by reviewing your test results. Because there is no pass/fail grade associated with the PCAT you need to know the minimum score accepted by your choice of pharmacy college to calculate whether you will be accepted into the program.
