Business Student Resources

Business student resources are available on and off campus. All colleges and universities have student resource centers where business students can obtain information on graduation requirements, campus life and career counseling. Campus business student resources keep pace with business technologies by providing business students with their own computer labs. External business resources also assist students with project topics and provide external mentoring or resources to clarify difficult business concepts.
  1. Technology Resources

    • Technology assistance is a vital business student resource provided by most colleges and universities. The majority of academic programs in business have an online or digital component requiring students to have compatible technology for downloading and communication. The majority of U.S. universities and colleges have collaborated with computer manufacturers to provide students with special discounts when purchasing computer equipment. Computers purchased through the college student resource centers are often sold preloaded with the required college software. Many colleges and universities also have computer labs with desktop computers loaded with business software, conference areas for group projects and assistant instructors to help students.

    Online Business Courses

    • Students having difficulties understanding a business concept may access the free online business courses provided by the U.S. Small Business Administration. The SBA offers businesses courses on starting, managing and marketing a business. Individual courses last 30 minutes and comprehensive online learning-series workshops are self-paced. Business students may view documents and articles, and watch videos on business concepts such as pricing, Internet marketing and advertising.

    Career Resources

    • All major universities and colleges offer business students career resources. Campus career resource centers offer business students career workshops, professional development counseling, internship programs and job search assistance. Career center business student resources also include on-campus interviewing opportunities with area and national businesses. Major corporations maintain close relationships with career centers to identify potential employees. Job search assistance includes help with creating resumes and covers letters and instruction in interviewing.

    Business Document Resources

    • The interactive nature of electronic business templates makes them an excellent business student resource for learning complex business concepts, such as monitoring cash flow, creating business plans and forecasting sales. Government-funded organizations, such as the Service Corps of Retired Executives, provide free access to business forms, documents and spreadsheets. Students can download templates online and request additional guidance on how to use them.
