How to Prepare for Latin CLEP Tests

Students who have taken Latin in high school might consider taking a College Level Examination Program or CLEP test to move into a more advanced Latin course. Students who have studied Latin in high school for at least three years may have the foundation for skipping basic college Latin grammar classes. Most CLEP tests include multiple choice questions on basic construction and vocabulary as well as a passage for translation. The same test is generally used to determine placement for single or multiple classes, but course credit is rarely granted, only exemption into a higher-level class.
