Washington, D.C.'s Georgetown University is a Jesuit institution with a variety of Ph.D. programs through its Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Students may pursue doctoral degrees in some programs at night or combine their undergraduate studies with graduate studies in a five-year program. Georgetown also provides a joint-degree program where students can earn two advanced degrees concurrently. Harvard University provides doctorates in more than 50 fields through the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences. Doctorates offered at Harvard include anthropology, religion, physics, English, Classics, economics, forestry and history. Students may also pursue advanced interdepartmental degrees. The Graduate School of Harvard has a vibrant student life centered around the Dudley House. Graduate students can partake in extracurricular activities such as language clubs, concerts, ski trips, art exhibits and student-faculty dinners. The University of Oregon in Eugene is the only graduate program in Oregon to be a member of the Association of American University, a prestigious accreditation association. The outlook for doctoral graduates of UO is excellent, with 40 percent securing teaching jobs and an additional 25 percent garnering fellowships and other research positions. Additionally, 43 percent of all doctoral candidates have published papers in peer-reviewed journals prior to graduation. The College of Arts and Sciences ranks 15th among graduate programs, while the College of Education ranks fifth in the nation.
