What is a JD Doctoral degree?

There's no such thing as a "JD Doctoral degree." A JD (Juris Doctor) is itself a doctoral-level professional degree in law. It's equivalent to a PhD in terms of the level of education, but it's a professional degree, not a research degree like a PhD. You don't get a JD *and* then a separate doctorate; the JD is the doctorate in law.
