San Antonio College offers the Tuition Installment Payment Plan and is available for the fall and spring semester only. Students must pay an initial payment of 34 percent of the total bill, along with an administration fee. Paying less than the 34 percent of the total bill can result in the student's classes being dropped. The remaining two payments will each be 33 percent of the total tuition bill, each with its own deadline. Failing to pay on time will result in a penalty fee.
San Antonio College offers free tuition for senior citizens aged 65 or older with proper registration and documentation. The free tuition waver is only good for up to six credits of lecture courses and is based on class space availability. This benefit excludes Internet classes and private art and music instruction. Students using this benefit are subject to the same class regulations and syllabus requirements and will result in a letter grade at the end of the semester.
Full-time, regular city of San Antonio employees can partake of the tuition assistance benefit offered by the city. As long as the classes taken meet accreditation standards and other criteria, tuition for city employees can be reimbursed up to 100 percent. The amount of the reimbursement for each class is based on the letter grade received. For example, a letter grade of "A" is reimbursed at 100 percent, while a "B" is reimbursed at 75 percent.
Outside agencies may also provide other forms of tuition assistance. These agencies include the Texas Commission for the Blind and Deaf, Hazelwood, Texas Rehabilitation Commission, Texas Tomorrow Fund and Active Duty Military Tuition Assistancee. Contact these specific agencies for more information on requirements for tuition assistance. There may also be other outside scholarships, grants and loans available from the federal government and other outside funding sources.
