Your time spent in the military can accelerate your education by earning college credits while serving. There are reimbursement programs for enlisted men and women who take college courses in their free time and will bring instructors aboard to help with studies. In addition to this, military training usually counts towards college credits depending on what studies you choose to pursue.
Each branch of the military offers tuition assistance programs that may pay up to 100 percent of your tuition costs. The Montogomery G.I. Bill is offered in each branch of the military allowing a monthly reduction of $100 to get back as an education benefit over $36,000. This money can be used toward college during or after active service. Each branch of the military also has additional benefits that can expand the cap in the form of a "kicker" which can be used over a 36-month period.
There are also scholarship programs available such as Reserve Officers Training Corps (ROTC) or NROTC. Being awarded this scholarship gives you a choice of participating schools to attend with a normal course load with the objective of graduating to be commissioned as an officer in the military.
