The Red Seal Program is a national apprenticeship program that certifies tradespeople who have met prescribed standards of skill and knowledge. Red Seal trades are recognized across Canada, and Red Seal holders are eligible to work in any province or territory.
To earn a Red Seal, apprentices must complete a multi-year apprenticeship program and pass an interprovincial exam. The length of apprenticeship programs varies by trade, but most are three to four years long.
Gold
Gold seals are not typically used on educational diplomas. However, some institutions may use gold seals to denote special achievements or honors. For example, a student who graduates with honors may receive a diploma with a gold seal.
In general, red seals are more widely recognized and have more Bedeutung than gold seals.
