Ultrasound Technician Vocational Schools

Ultrasound technicians, sometimes called sonographers, use high-frequency sound waves to produce images of organs, tissues and blood flow inside of the body. According to the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography, this technology was first developed during World War II to locate submerged objects. Now, nearly every branch of medicine uses ultrasound as a safe, effective way to view internal organs and tissues. Aspiring ultrasound technicians have a variety of educational options.
