Ohio University Southern has a law enforcement program that is for students who wish to enter into law enforcement as well as those who are already in law enforcement and wish to sharpen their knowledge and skills. Students will earn an associate's degree in law enforcement and the credit and professional training that this program provides can be applied toward a bachelor's degree at Ohio University in criminal justice. In this program, students will receive professional training in traffic enforcement, forensic science, interviewing and report writing, the preservation of physical evidence and the fundamentals of investigation.

Idaho State University has a law enforcement program that prepares students who complete the program to become eligible to sit for the certification exam and do not need to attend the police academy. Students have the option of pursuing a technical certificate, an associate's degree or a bachelor's degree in law enforcement and the time it takes to complete this program ranges from two to four and a half semesters. Students will take courses that include detention procedures, health and fitness, investigations and human relations. Students will also take patrol procedures and be required to participate in the cadet practicum which teaches students the practical knowledge and skills.

Minnesota State University has a law enforcement program where students can either earn a bachelor of science degree or a bachelor of arts degree upon graduation. This program is designed for students who wish to become police officers, state troopers, deputy sheriffs, federal agents and military officers. This program has two options; the first option does not require a minor and is for students who want to become peace officers in the state of Minnesota. The second option requires a minor and is for students who do not want to become a peace officer in Minnesota but who want to law or graduate school and practice in another state. Students will take law enforcement courses that include introduction to law enforcement, criminal law and procedures, crime and punishment and criminal investigation.
