To train professionally and obtain a four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Recording Arts, the University of Colorado at Denver offers a professional program with a rigorous course of study, and it has ties to the city of Aurora. The University of Colorado's Anschulz Medical Campus is located in downtown Aurora.
Featuring veteran recording engineers and accreditation by the National Association of Schools of Music, the program at the University of Colorado features training in both music and film recording techniques. This university has a separate College of Music and Entertainment Industry Studies, one of the few in the country. The college offers a focus in mass communications, education, arts, and entertainment industries, and in the relatively new field of of audio forensics.

Accessible to Aurora within minutes on the I-70 freeway, the Community College of Denver offers training for students who specifically wish to transfer into an audio production program, and the college's music offerings prepare students specifically for the requirements of the University of Denver's program. Students can take much of the preliminary coursework at the Community College (where tuition is much less), then transfer to the university for completion of their training.
