List of Courses in Engineering

The term engineering is one of both depth and breadth, as the field has numerous varieties and types of applications. Given the fact that there are so many different careers in engineering, it becomes quite easy to see that there are even more engineering courses in colleges. To help navigate the complex selection, it's good to know the more common types of engineering classes.
  1. Engineering Mechanics

    • Most engineering mechanics courses examine the effect of forces acting on particles and rigid bodies. Also studied are vector mechanics, statics and dynamics, including kinematics, which is the study of motion itself, without regard to its cause.

    Computational Tools for Engineering

    • This is an essential mathematics course that introduces students to problem solving strategies and the design process in engineering. It includes an introduction to computation tools for engineers.

    Engineering Computer Graphics

    • This course introduces students to modeling graphics packages that allow individuals to conceive, analyze, simulate and evaluate design ideas.

    Circuits for Bioengineers

    • The foundation of this course consists of principles of circuit design, simulation and analysis and includes DC and AC circuit theory and principles of electronic devices.

    Intro to the Engineering Proficiency

    • This is an overview course outlining the different components of engineering. Most of these courses allow students to later chose a concentration according to their skills and interests.

    Object-Oriented Programming

    • This course explores many computer programming concepts and problem solving using an object-oriented programming language. Common topics include use of classes, creation of objects and classes and graphics and graphical user interfaces.
