Buy a sturdy three-ringed binder large enough to hold all the contents for your academic portfolio. This binder will allow you to add more pages and expand your portfolio in coming years.
Collect a sample of your completed work. Place the pages in order of completion. Decide if this grouping is your best representation of work. Count the number of documents to help form the order of the presentation and insert tabs as needed.
Organize your table of contents. Print a table using Microsoft Word or a similar program from your computer, and use colored tabs or paper to distinguish the sections. The table of contents should list all page numbers or at least the pages that are dedicated to the start of each section. For instance, you will have a resume, academic subject list and accomplishment section.
Add a copy of your resume. Professional and academic achievements should be mentioned. For example, volunteer work could be listed within the resume along with skills you possess, such as speaking a foreign language.
Include major subjects such as math, science and language arts from school to construct an academic portfolio. Date all the documents that provide evidence you successfully completed the classes. For instance, save graded projects every semester to represent your average course load. Protective plastic covers work well for three-ringed binders to store items. The College Board website provides a sample of how a portfolio should look when emphasizing subjects.
List your accomplishments with bullet points. Scholarships, awards of achievement and any other accolades should be included within the portfolio. Place them in chronological order of receipt, which is the most recent listed first.
