1. Using APA Style for Citing Websites

    • 1

Cite an entire website by giving the URL to the site within the text of the document. For example: "APA Style is a comprehensive site for learning how to use APA style formats in research writing (http://www.apastyle.org)."

Reference a page within a website by listing the page along with its author, date of publication and full URL in the References section at the end of the document. Reference materials are listed alphabetically by the author's last name. If the author's name is not known, the page is alphabetized by the title of the material. Cite the specific web page used, and include the date and full URL. If some of this information is unavailable, cite the information that is available for the website. Place each citation on a new line, italicize the title of the web page, and do not place a period at the end of the URL. If there is no date, use the abbreviation "n.d." to indicate no date.

      Basic web citation:

Kreps, S. (2010). Eat Wholly. Retrieved from http://www.modern-simplicity.com/2010/12/eat-wholly.html

      Web page without an author:

Eat Wholly. (n.d.). Retrieved from http://www.modern-simplicity.com/2010/12/eat-wholly.html

Cite a web-page within the text, by using the first few words of the References entry (usually the title) and the year. Use double quotation marks around the title or abbreviated title. ("How to Recycle Clear Plastic," 2010).
