Many courses claim to offer a free course but only provide the basics for free. Then you have to pay for the in-depth course. This may be fine if that is all you need for a holiday. But if you want to learn the language thoroughly find a site that offers the whole course for free.
Check that the information they provide is correct and that it is a qualified Russian teacher who has been involved in creating the site. You will also see she teaches at the University of Victoria Germanic and Slavic Studies, so you can be confident that you are learning from an expert.
You can borrow language discs from your local library for free. If you use the discs with a book you will be able to see what the words look like written down which for people who learn better visually is something that would be very helpful.
