Private Colleges With Pharmacy Schools

When doctors prescribe medicine, you usually visit a pharmacist to obtain the prescription. Pharmacists must attend pharmacy school and earn their degrees in order to practice. There are several private universities in the United States that offer pharmacy programs. These schools not only produce pharmacists, but also they produce physician assistants, medical technologists, toxicologists and pathologist assistants.
  1. University of Southern California School of Pharmacy

    • The University of Southern California's School of Pharmacy is located in Los Angeles, California. The school has 73 full-time faculty, 13 part-time faculty and offers a battery of master's and doctoral level degrees, along with several certificate programs. For example, students can earn the Doctor of Pharmacy, along with master's or Ph.D. degrees in Molecular Pharmacology and Toxicology, Pharmaceutical Sciences and Pharmaceutical Economics and Policy. Students also can earn dual degree Doctor of Pharmacy and other graduate degrees, such as the Masters in Business Administration, Juris Doctor or the Master of Public Health.     Howard University School of Pharmacy

    • Located in Washington D.C., the Howard University School of Pharmacy offers entry level, post-baccalaureate, nontraditional and traditional master's and Ph.D. programs in Pharmacy. In order to be eligible to earn the Pharm.D. degree at Howard, students must have successfully completed a pre-pharmacy program at Howard or any other accredited college or university. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 2.5 in science, math, English and speech, and an overall GPA of 2.5 in all pre-pharmacy courses. The curriculum gives students skills to practice pharmaceutical care. Students can opt to apply "early decision" if they are sure that Howard is their first choice, and they can enroll if accepted.

    Mercer University - College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences

    • Mercer University's College of Pharmacy and Health Sciences offers several Pharmacy-related degrees: PharmD., Ph.D., M.M.Sc. (Physician's Assistant), along with the combined Pharm.D./Ph.D. and Pharm.D./MBA. Located in Atlanta, Georgia, the institution is a member of the American Association of Colleges of Pharmacy and is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education.

    St. John's University College of Pharmacy and Allied Health

    • Located in Queens, New York, St. John's University's College of Pharmacy and Allied health offers six four combination master's and Ph.D. level degrees in Industrial Pharmacy, Medicinal Chemistry, Pharmacology and Toxicology. Additionally, students can earn the Master's of Science degree in Pharmacy Administration and in Biological and Pharmaceutical Biotechnology. The facility features tissue-cultures laboratories, molecular pharmacology and molecular biology laboratories, as well as an accredited animal facility.
