Get a membership with a public library that has a searchable online database of academic journal archives. If your area does not have a public library with an academic search database, see if it is possible to use the library at a college or university. Many colleges give their graduates free library access for life. Most colleges have online "aggregators" of search databases that let you use multiple pay services for free.
Make a list of topics you want to research. The subject "management of computers in the classroom" contains many sub-topics, such as content filtering, passwords, security and use policy. Most of these topics have volumes of papers specifically dedicated to them, so it is best to search according to specific topics rather than broad concepts.
Search in a library for books that may contain articles about the management of computers in the classroom. Most of the articles available in academic searches originate from journals and other periodicals; articles originally published in books may not be available in even the best online academic search tools. Some books with sections on computer management include "Bringing Schools into the 21st Century" by Wan Guofang and "Educational Innovations Beyond Technology" by Nancy Law.
Search in books and online databases for articles pertaining to the topics within computer management. Many college libraries use "Academic Search Premier," which allows you to find information from numerous databases of scholarly articles. Books can be searched by looking through the table of contents. Take any promising articles you can find and put them into a "short list" of papers that may potentially help you with your questions on classroom computer management.
Read the abstracts of the papers that made it to your "short list" and delete papers that seem irrelevant to your research goals. An abstract is a short summary at the beginning of a paper that gives the reader an idea of what to expect. Reading research abstracts should give you a good sense of which papers deal with the relevant areas of management of computers in the classroom.
