Lawrence Technological University in Southfield, Michigan offers a graduate degree program in manufacturing systems for the defense industry. Wayne State University, based in Detroit, Michigan, offers a Master of Science degree with a concentration in defense engineering. Students learn about integrated systems engineering, defense engineering requirements as well as fundamental engineering principles. Wayne State has connections with the U.S. Army's Tank Automotive and Armament Command and Tank Automotive Research, Development and Engineering Center, located in nearby Warren, Michigan. The University of California at San Diego Extension offers six defense engineering application classes as part of its overall continuing engineering curriculum.
