Create categories in your notebook for your life goals. Some examples of these categories may include family, career, education, finances, attitude, leisure, physical and community service. You can label the start of each category with a tab or flag on the edge of a page, allowing several pages in the book for each category.
Brainstorm lists of goals. Work on one category at a time and write down any and all goals that come to mind. You will edit this list later, so just set aside a set amount of time for each category and list every possible goal you can think of.
Organize your goals in each section. Start with the goals that are most easily attainable in the near future and end with the goals that will take the longest amount of time to achieve. During this process you can remove any duplicate goals that came up in your brainstorming process.
Create a five-year plan. Use your lists and combine the goals that can feasibly be completed in the next five years.
Break down your list from Step 4 into a one-year plan, a six-month plan and a one-month plan to figure out which goals you should start working on immediately.
Create a one-week plan to determine what you need to accomplish within the week to meet the goals that are listed in your one-month plan. Repeat this for the next three weeks, then compare your one-month plan to your accomplishments.
