Use a simple and clear layout that makes it easy to find information quickly. People typically look at visual documents the same way they read: right to left and then top to bottom. Therefore, the layout of your information should follow this pattern. Important background or introductory information should go in the top left of your layout because people will look there first.
Create a dominant central image that will catch the audience's eye. This image should be simple but convey the central idea of your message. For example, if you are delivering a message that relates to statistics, your central image may a chart or graph that delivers the most striking part of your data.
Convey relative importance of information through size or color. The most important information should be distinguished by its size or a bold, eye-catching color. Less important information should be made smaller or in a different color.
Make text easy to read. Even if your message is primarily visual, it will probably include some text, such as labels on a graph or a title or headline. Make this text easy to read by using a font that can be read from a distance and colors that are easy to read against the background.
